"Homeland Security and Justice Department investigations should continue into wrongful actions against ICE agent Cory Voorhis"

 

DENVER – Colorado Republican State Chairman Dick Wadhams made the following statement today regarding the withdrawal of Stephanie Villafuerte from consideration as U.S. Attorney for Colorado:

 

"The Villafuerte nomination was a mistake and an arrogant act of power from the beginning by Governor Bill Ritter and his two compliant senators, Mark Udall and Michael Bennet.  Colorado now has the opportunity to have a U.S. Attorney who does not have ethical questions hanging over their nomination.  

 

"But this withdrawal does not remove the absolute necessity for investigations by the Department of Homeland Security and the Department of Justice into the wrongful termination of ICE Agent Cory Voorhis who deserves to finally get a fair hearing from the federal government."
